Description

The ABB REF601 is a dedicated feeder protection and control relay belonging to the Relion 605 Series. Designed for primary and secondary distribution networks, the REF601 provides protection, monitoring, and control functionality for utility and industrial power system overhead lines, cable feeders, and distribution transformers. It features an integrated local human-machine interface (LHMI) with built-in control buttons for single circuit breaker operation, support for conventional CTs or Rogowski current sensors, and serial communication capabilities.

Features

  • Part of the ABB Relion 605 series product family for utility and industrial installations
  • Integrated LHMI with dedicated push buttons for local control of one circuit breaker
  • Supports both conventional current transformers (4 CT inputs) and Rogowski current sensor configurations (3 sensor inputs, 1 CT input)
  • Selectable protection characteristics including Definite Time (DT), standard IEC 61255-3 IDMT curves, ANSI C37.112 IDMT curves, and RI Inverse
  • Three-level, role-based user authentication system with separate operator, engineer, and administrator passwords
  • Integrated self-supervision for hardware/software and trip-circuit monitoring (TCM)
  • Detachable terminals with CT shorting for reduced MTTR
  • Press-fit mounting design for panel installations
  • Non-volatile memory storage for 100 time-stamped events (1 ms resolution) and analog fault records for the last 5 trip events

Applications

  • Utility and industrial power distribution networks
  • Main protection for overhead line feeders and cable feeders
  • Main protection for distribution transformers using inrush current stabilization
  • Direct mounting on ABB circuit breakers VD4 and HD4
